A trio of trumpet,
string bass and banjo play Careless Love |

 |
The quartet shown in
the page heading play All Of Me during an engagement at a wedding.
The band played in a bar area to entertain guests in the period between
the end of the formal meal and the start of the evening disco. The
quartet featured trumpet doubling on valve trombone and clarinet doubling
on tenor sax. |

A further example of
the quartet from the previous track, this time playing Jazz Me Blues |

This quintet includes
trumpet and clarinet with a three-piece rhythm section consisting of
piano, banjo and brass bass. They are playing Flatfoot, written by
Lil Hardin Armstrong and recorded by her with the New Orleans Bootblacks
in 1926, but still fresh and lively today in the JAZZ PZAZZ version. |
 |
Again a quintet, this
time with drums instead of piano and string bass instead of brass. They
are playing Fidgety Feet |
 |
The six-piece band
with trumpet, clarinet, trombone, banjo, bass and drums is what people
generally think of as the full band. Here they we pick them up towards the
end of Hiawatha, a number dating from the 1890s. |
 |
Again six players, but
this time with piano and without drums. They were playing for the the
Christmas celebrations of a WI branch, and we hear the trombone solo on All
Of Me. |
 |
Line-ups with more
than six players are not uncommon, a piano is often added to give a seven
strong unit. This has been done here and the front line has also been
augmented by the addition of a tenor sax to give eight players in
total. They are playing Riverboat Shuffle.

This is a video clip
of a specialist six piece Jazz Pzazz unit called The Five Towns
Footwarmers playing at a Flower Festival in the village church at
Wolverley, Worcestershire. They were joined by vocalist Ruth Frith and
here they play Coney Island Washboard. |
